HAWKS EXTENDS CUNYAC RECORD WITH WIN OVER CSI WOMEN, 49-47

Allie Shanahan had 19 points and 11 rebounds despite the loss to Hunter.

The CSI women dropped a competitive game against Hunter, 49-47, to fall 3-6 in the CUNYAC. The Hawks extended their record to 5-3.
 
There were six ties and six lead changes in the first seven minutes of play before Hunter pulled away taking their greatest of 9 with seven minutes remaining. A three pointer by Katelyn Hepworth put the Dolphins within one at the half, 21-22.
 
Just two minutes in, a Rachel Rosado jumper and a Hepworth free throw pushed the Dolphins above 24-23. CSI held a strong lead through the half, with their biggest lead of 9 at the 5 minute mark. From there the Dolphins did no more scoring allowing the Hawks to go on an 11-0 run to finish the game. CSI had several chances to tie with an attempted Hepworth layup at .44 and a Shanahan three pointer as time ran out.
 
The Dolphins were led by Shanahan's double-double consisting of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Hepworth (11 rebounds), Rosado (5 assists, 4 steals) and Nicole Quattrocchi added 8 points apiece.
 
Kristen Markoe led the Hawks with 20 points while Nicole Lenard added 16 points.
 
Hunter shot 71% from the foul line to the Dolphins42% for the game.
 
The Dolphins will host Farmingdale State College on Monday, January 31 at 6:00 pm.
