CSI MEN EVEN RECORD WITH VICTORY OVER DREW, 81-57

Box Score The College of Staten Island men's basketball team used a big run to open the game, leading from start to finish soaring to victory in its home opener against Drew University tonight, 81-57.  CSI evened its record to 2-2 overall, winning its second straight while the Rangers fell to 2-3 overall.

CSI powered to an 8-0 lead over the first 3:58 to open the game, never looking back in the game which saw them shoot 57.9% from the floor.  Bloochy Magloire scored five points in the run, including one of seven three-point baskets for the sophomore.  CSI opened a 12-point lead, 16-4, before Drew fought to within seven points on a pair of occasions.  Then with 10:43 to play in the opening stanza, CSI executed a 13-1 run over the next 3:30 to open up a gaping, 32-13, lead.  Magloire added another pair of long-balls in the run, while ex-Ranger Dylan Bulger converted an inside layup and a point after to complete another three-point play.

CSI led by as many as 25 in the frame, when another Magloire bucket gave CSI a 41-16 lead with 3:31 to go.  The Rangers had room for an 8-3 spurt to close the frame down by 20, 44-24.

Tibbs driving layup, and yet another Magloire bomb to open the lead back up to 13.  When Drew knocked down CSI's lead to 10 on an Asmar Capers three-pointer, CSI ran off a 14-2 run over the next 5:07 to take a commanding 71-49 lead with just 4:37 to play, en route to the 81-57 final.

Magloire led all scorers with 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting, adding 9 rebounds and three steals.  Tibbs was equally spectacular, adding 13 markers to go with 12 assists.  Matt Van Manen added eight points and 9 rebounds.  Drew was led by Capers' 17 points, while Brown finished with 14 for the visitors.  CSI enjoyed a 37-26 advantage on the boards.
