The College of Staten Island men's tennis squad saw their modest two-game win streak snapped today, as the Dolphins were victimes of a heavy-handed, 8-1, loss to CUNYAC-rivals Baruch College at the National Tennis Center earlier this afternoon. CSI fell to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the CUNYAC, while the Bearcats lifted their marks to 7-1, 3-0, respectively.
Baruch left little to doubt on their home courts, sweeping doubles and then taking five of six singles flights to cruise to the win. BC's Christopher Jenkins and Stephan Muller at No. 2 and Joe Laskowski and Philip Bleustein at No. 3 each scored 8-0 wins in their frames, while Artem Gorbachevskiy and Guy Goren had a tougher time at the top spot, managing to edge out CSI's Nick Zikos and
Daniel Ursomanno, 8-5.
When play shifted to singles, Zikos proved to be CSI's lone bright spot, scoring a 6-3, 6-3, win over Gorbachevskiy at the top spot. CSI only won seven games in the other five spots combined as Baruch took the rest of the singles flights in straight sets.
CSI is now idle until April 3, when they travel to Lehman College for anothet CUNYAC test in the BRonx at 3:30pm.
