STATEN ISLAND, NY – In search of its second straight win and second consecutive win over the Red Hawks, the College of Staten Island men's basketball team heads to New Jersey to take on Montclair State, Tuesday.
 
The Dolphins are having a tough start to their season, sitting at 3-2 overall on the season, but their only two losses came in tough battles as both came during overtime games. In fact, Staten Island is undefeated in games that are completed in regulation.
 
On the other side, the Red Hawks are currently standing with an overall record of 2-4 and are currently on a two-game skid. Montclair is coming off a nine-point loss to Ramapo College,
 
However, despite their 2-1 record on the road, CSI is just 1-7 all-time when playing at Montclair. In fact, their last win in New Jersey came on Nov. 26, 2011, when the Dolphins took the defensive battle, 66-64.
 
In Their Last Meeting …
 
On November 17, 2013, in the consolation round of the Hampton Inn Tip-Off Tournament, the Dolphins clipped the Red Hawks wings taking a 61-55 victory. The Dolphins rose to a 1-1 record while the Hawks fell to a 0-2 record.  The game was summarized as a tough defensive battle that was close throughout.
 
Javon Cox led all CSI scorers with 12 points, shooting 6-10.  Cox also tallied 6 rebounds for the Dolphins. Cannon finished with 11 markers while Van Manen led CSI with 11 rebounds.  Gonzalez led the Red Hawks with 15 points, while Daniel Singleton and Erick Lofton-Harris each had 10.  Ordel Goldson had 10 rebounds.
