Both the College of Staten Island men's and women's tennis teams were in action this afternoon, travelling to take on Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ, in a non-conference test.  Unfortunately, both earned a similar fate, falling by a 5-0 count to the Roadrunners in a match that was halted due to rain and finished up indoors.  The CSI men saw their seven-match unbeaten streak snapped and fell to 8-4, while the CSI women's team, which has not played since late-October fell to 7-9 overall.

Ramapo took 3-0 leads after doubles on both ends, and then rains came and threatened all of play.  The teams played until clinching victories were scored, with the men's match moving indoors to do so.

On the men's side, CSI's team of Chris Pinto and Raymond Hwang nearly got through Kevin Llinets and Brendan Hines but ultimately fell, 9-8.  That meant that Ramapo needed to secure only two wins in singles to take the match.  They did so at Nos. 1-2 Singles.  Willen Feygin did the honors at No. 1 with a 6-0, 6-1, win over Matthew Vesci and then Jeremy Rosen did the same at No. 2 against CSI's Andrew Adia, winning 6-0, 6-2.

At the time play was halted, Ramapo had leads in all of the other flights as well, although both Akaki Dundua (No. 4) and Chris Pinto (No. 3) held leads in the second set of their matches.

Because they started with only five players, the CSI women immediately conceded the No. 3 Doubles and No. 3 Singles slots, so they started out down 2-0.  In Doubles that quickly turned into 4-0, although CSI's team of Tristiana Adragna and Katherine Villarroel made things interesting, falling 8-6 to RC's team of Megha Mehta and Brittany Metzlaff.

The clincher then came at No. 5, where Alexa Reeve was able to score a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, win over CSI's Guetanie Romaine.  At the time of the stoppage, CSI held a lead at No. 1, where Michelle Kushnir held a 6-4, 1-2, lead over Abbey Tremonte, and at No. 2 where Adragna was up 6-2, 3-1, in her match against Mehta.

The CSI men will return to action against Baruch on Friday at 4:00pm while the women conclude their 2016-17 season with a date against Farmingdale State on Monday.
