Bronx, NY | The College of Staten Island women's tennis team dropped their fifth-straight match on Tuesday, falling in another conference tilt to Lehman College by an 8-1 count at the Lehman College Tennis Courts. The loss dipped CSI to 1-5 overall and 0-5 within the CUNYAC, while Lehman figured to 3-6, 2-3, respectively.
The Dolphins got their only victory as part of doubles play, as the No. 2 duo of
Guetanie Romain and
Mariah DeGuia were able to win a tie-breaking set, 8-7 (7-3). At No. 1 Lizaveta Markouskaya and Diwa Rana from the Lightning were able to top CSI's
Hannah Bruschi and
Tristiana Adragna, 8-3, and at No. 3, the Lehman tandem of Leslie Juanacio and Joanna Rosario proved too much for LisaMarie Perez-Melo and
Katherine Moreno, 8-0.
In singles play, Lehman was dominating, taking 6-0, 6-0, win in four of the six flights. In a wat at No. 2, Lehman's Alana Beirman was able to narrowly put away Adragna, 6-1, 2-6, 10-8. At No. 3, Celine Figueroa was able to slip past DeGuia in the first set, 7-6 (7-3), and then win via retirement.
The Dolphins will look to turn away the skid on Saturday, when they travel to face Sarah Lawrence College at 12 Noon on the road.
