ADRAGNA & BRODERICK TAKE WEEKLY CROSS-COUNTRY HONORS

10/2/2018 8:57:00 AM

After an exciting turn this weekend in their very own hosted Invitational, the CSI Women's Cross-Country team has plenty more to cheer about as they swept CUNYAC weekly awards this week after their first-place finish.  Junior Tristiana Adragna recorded her first CUNYAC Runner of the Week award, while freshman Brittani Broderick was named the CUNYAC's Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.

Adragna, who was also named the CSI Female Athlete of the Week, came in 4th overall among 52 runners at the CSI 6K Invitational this week on the very challenging course.  She posted the best 6K of her career at 26:20.7, and it was second among the scoring participants and first among all CUNY Senior College runners.  It was the third-fastest 6K time in CSI Women's Cross-Country historyl, making it a monumental run for Adragna, who also plays women's tennis at CSI.

Right behind her was Broderick, who turned in a performance of 27:03.6 in the CSI Invitational 6K at Clove Lakes Park.  It was good for 5th overall in the field, and second on the Dolphins, who won the meet overall among seven schools represented.  For Brittani it was her fastest 6K ever and shaved her personal best time by four minutes. It was the 10th-fastest 6K time in school history.

The win by the Dolphins among the seven represented teams was their second first-place finish as a team this season.  Prior to the season, the Dolphins had not won a cross-country meet since 2007.

The Dolphins are next in action on Saturday this weekend, when they travel to Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ, to be a part of the NJIT Invitational.
