10/11/2025 11:30:00 PM

NEWARK, NJ - The College of Staten Island men's and women's cross country teams competed Saturday at the NJIT XC Invite and continued their record-setting 2025 season.  The CSI men placed 4th out of ten teams in the Open 8K and the CSI women placed 4th out of 23 teams competing in the Invitational 5K.

Pending corrections with the event's timekeeping, the CSI women earned a fourth-place finish in the Invitational 5K.  Leading the way was Adriana Roa who set yet another 5K program record.  Her time was both a CSI program record and an NJIT course record for a Dolphins runner.  Joining Roa in achieving personal-best times in the meet were Angelina Guerriero, Elizabeth Nicotra, Mahawa Kouyate, Anna Carafiol, Jacqueline Washington, and Adonijah Washington.  The combined effort of these seven Dolphins resulted in the best average time in program history for a 5K.

The CSI men posted a score of 105 points and placed fourth in the Open 8K.  Peter Galletta placed 31st overall and his time of 28:47 was third-best all time for a CSI freshman.  Also achieving personal-best times in the meet were Jehu Ermilus (30:04), Kevin Deyo (30:24), Walter Gavilanes (30:44), Steven Elcock (36:24), Jude Adinnu (37:33), Jeremiah Downer (38:53), and Ibrahima Diallo (39:39).

Both the men's and women's cross country teams will have a two-week layoff before concluding the season at the East Coast Conference Cross-Country Championship on October 25.
