Annandale-on-Hudson, NY | The College of Staten Island men's and women's cross-country units were back on the course today, competing in the heavily-contested Bard Invitational held on the Raptors' campus. The men's 8K saw CSI place 11th out of 18 teams while the women, racing a 6K for the first time at Bard, came in 12th overall among the 14 competing teams.
The women were the first team to get out of the gates, and CSI had a pair of runners place in the Top 50 among the field's 136 runners.
Tristiana Adragna was tops again for CSI today, coming in at 28:40.2 just over 11 seconds ahead of N'Zinga Duverney-Beavers who was CSI's second finisher. The duo came in 42nd and 45th, respectively, in the field. CSI's other notable were Rachel Edmunds, who continued her steady run with a time of 31:09.6 for 76th place and
Deavion Brown who was in just a few beats later at 31:14.3, good for 77th.
Victoria DeBernardo came in at 37:16.4 while
Jolisa Wright was in moments later with a run of 37:55.4.
The women's race was won overall by St. Joseph's College (LI), with 71 points. Mount Saint Mary College was next in line with 98 points, while SUNY-Delhi took the bronze with 101 points. CSI was the only CUNYAC school represented today, and they finished with 279 points, just eight points behind Farmingdale State but 97 in front of Berkeley College (NJ).
The CSI men continued with their 8K runs, and they would finish with 267 points. Like the women, they were the only CUNYAC school represented at the Bard Invitational. SUNY-Maritime was the overall winner with 61 points, while Manhattanville College was next in line with 79 points and Union (NY) came in third with 83.
For the fourth-consecutive weekend, freshman
Spencer Milito was the first one in for the Dolphins, coming in with a race time of 30:41.8, good for 26th overall in the field among the 145 total runners. Right on his heels was senior
Liam McMunn, who closed at 30:49.6, finishing 29th.
Jaron Thompson put up his best run of the season, coming in at 33:48.7, good for 71st overall, while
Ahmed Khodir did the same, posting a personal-best of 34:54.4, good for 83rd. Next in for CSI was
Daniel Palmieri, who came in at 36:48, landing at 99th.
Wilson Esguerra boasted a personal-best time of 237:25.5, good for 102nd, while
Trevin Robinson came in at 38:38.3, coming in at 110th.
CSI will now get set for their very own Invitational next weekend. They will host a 6K on the women's side and an 8K on the men's side at Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island, Sunday morning beginning at 10:00am.
