SCORING ONSLAUGHT LIFTS DOLPHINS PAST COUGARS, 12-0

Staten Island, NY | A plethora of goals were scored by the Dolphins in this CUNYAC matchup leading to a 12-0 win to improve to 2-0 in the CUNYAC and 6-2 overall. The Cougars of Medgar Evers College struggled to string passes together and dropped to 0-4, 0-2 on the year.

The Dolphins were coming off of a 3-0 CUNYAC win over John Jay College which extended their win streak to four in a row. Today, they extended it to five and stayed perfect in the CUNYAC on a beautiful day at the CSI Soccer Complex.

Nermina Bracic wasted no time putting the Dolphins in the stat sheet, scoring the opening goal just 1:39 into the game. Bracic found herself in the right place at the right time and collected the rebound and placed it into the back of the net for her second goal of the season. Adrianna Parello doubled the Dolphins' lead one minute later, receiving a pass from Paulina Ambrus at the top of the box and curled her shot over Ajene Christian's head.

CSI and the nation's second leading goal scorer, Samantha LaValle tapped in her 13th goal of the season on a pass from Lauren Smith.

Staten Island continued to possess the ball, limiting Medgar's time on the ball. That possession allowed several Dolphins to tally their first goal of the year. Lizbeth Aparicio, Paulina Ambrus, Natalia Sandor, Victoria Sanchez and Catherine Mulligan all put the ball in the back of the net for the first time this season.

At the half, the Dolphins led 8-0 and rifled off 33 shots while holding the Cougars shotless. That shot total led to an inflated corner kick count for the Dolphins as they posted 16 in the first half.

The second half was more of the same from the Dolphins, picking apart the Cougars scoring four more goals to increase their lead to 12-0.  Kailia DeBenedetto is normally the net-minder for the Dolphins but this afternoon she was able to take the field as a forward and score a brace for Staten Island in the second half.

CSI would continue to roll throughout the second half and cruise to a 12-0 win.

The Dolphins will return to action on Monday, September 24 where they will travel to Wayne, NJ to take on William Paterson at 7:00 pm.
