New York, NY | The College of Staten Island's women's tennis team continued their struggles this afternoon as they went to the National Tennis Center to take on CUNYAC rivals, Hunter College. For the third straight time, the Dolphins dropped a CUNYAC match, 8-1 to fall to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the CUNYAC. Hunter improved to 4-2, and 2-1 in the CUNYAC with the win.
The duo of
Lorianna Fernandez and
Dilnoza Pulatova battled Ksenia Zevyakina and Anna Baylosis on court three but were unable to secure a point for the Dolphins as they fell 8-5, the closest the Dolphins came during a doubles match.
When play flipped to singles it was
Katherine Villarroel picking up the lone point for the Dolphins. Villarroel defeated Monika Zaboklicki, 6-3, 1-6, 10-2, to even her season record out to 1-1 on court three.
Hannah Bruschi didn't go down without a fight in the second slot, falling 6-3, 2-6, 10-8. Bruschi came close to earning her first win from the number two hole but dropped to 0-2.
The Dolphins will look to end their losing skid on Thursday, October 4 when they return home to take on Brooklyn College in another CUNYAC clash at 3:30 pm.
