Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island Women's Tennis team saw their losing skid hit eight matches today, as they fell to visiting Lehman College in their penultimate home game of the season, 9-0. The win fell the Dolphins to 0-8 overall, while the Lightning climbed up to .500, at 6-6.
Play started with Doubles, and there, the team of Leslie Juanacio and Joanna Rosario got LC off to a great start with an 8-0 win over CSI's
Iris Cule and
Jasmine Shaikh in the No. 3 position. Moments later, in the top spot, it was Lizaveta Markouskaya and Diwa Rana scoring an 8-1 winner over
Hannah Bruschi and
Lorianna Fernandez. CSI's No. 2 team of
Mariah DeGuia and
Madison Baialardo battled hard, but ultimately they fell too, 8-3, to Lehman's Celine Figueroa and Cien Estuye.
When it came time for Singles, Lehman was able to win in straight sets throughout. Yohara Molineros came in for singles, and won her set at No. 4, 6-1, 7-5, over CSI's Baialardo.
CSI will be back at it, weather permitting, tomorrow afternoon, when they face off against John Jay College in their final outing at the CSI Tennis Center, at 3:30 pm.
