GAMEDAY: WOMEN'S SOCCER VS CCNY, 4 PM

10/5/2019 10:00:00 AM

The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer team will be looking to rebound from a tough 2-1 overtime loss against FDU-Florham on Wednesday when they travel to Purchase, NY for a meeting with familiar CUNYAC rival CCNY at 4 PM. The Dolphins, now 3-5 after back-to-back losses, are looking to make it a perfect 3-0 against the CUNYAC in 2019 while the 5-5 Beavers are seeking their third straight win.

CSI VS. CCNY AT-A-GLANCE
Matchup:
College of Staten Island (3-5) vs. CCNY (5-5)
Where: Purchase, NY
All-Time Series: Dolphins lead 27-2-2
Last Meeting: October 6, 2018 - CSI won, 4-2
Players to Watch (CSI): Not much has changed among the Dolphins leading goal-scorers in the last week as Samantha LaValle continues to lead CSI with six and has Mirsade Pelinkovic and Amber Mitchell close behind her with four each. In their last match against FDU, Jordan Yagos moved to within one goal of creating a three-way tie for second in scoring alongside Pelinkovic and Mitchell when her equalizer late in the second half knotted up the score between the Dolphins and Devils at 1-1. In addition to finding the back of the net four times, Pelinkovic has also dished out four assists, but it's Lizbeth Aparicio's six that leads the team. CSI has also gotten stellar playmaking from other midfielders and defenders aside from Aparicio as well with both Danie Duka and Natalia Sandor adding three assists each. In between the pipes, it has been all Samantha Beaudreault for the Dolphins and her 2019 campaign is off to 3-5 start. In those eight games, she has saved about two-thirds of the shots she has faced and allowed right around 2.5 goals per game.
Players to Watch (CCNY):  The Beavers have outscored opponents 40-20 so far in 2019 due in large part to Gabrielle Duchaussee who has contributed 17 of those goals. They've also gotten six goals from both Ingrid Rosario and Cassidy Canberg with Rosario registering a team-leading five assists as well. Senior Dina Sayd and freshman Nathalie Membreno have led the Beavers defensively each logging nearly 840 minutes. Another senior, Catherine Langkamp has served as the primary goalkeeper saving 71% of the shots she has faced and allowed 2.52 goals per game in eight appearances, all starts.
News & Notes: The Dolphins hold a distinct 27-2-2 advantage in the all-time series and haven't lost in any matchup with CCNY since 2012, a 1-0 defeat in the CUNYAC Championship. However, the Beavers have become increasingly competitive against the Dolphins over the last three seasons playing to a 2-2 regular season tie and a 2-1 postseason defeat in 2017 followed by a 4-2 loss in the 2018 regular season. Though it will go down as a CCNY home game, today's match will be played in Purchase, NY, a site the Dolphins last visited in 2017 when they defeated the Panthers of Purchase College by a score of 1-0.
What's Next?: After this matchup against CCNY, the Dolphins will face another CUNYAC opponent one week from today when they host Lehman College at the CSI Soccer Complex. Kick-off will take place at 11:30 AM.
