CSI WOMEN RIP THROUGH MEDGAR EVERS FOR SECOND-STRAIGHT

Brooklyn, NY | The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball team followed up their huge win on Tuesday with yet another lopsided win to officially get on a win streak, disposing of Medgar Evers College on the road at Cougars Cave, 105-35.  The Dolphins improved to 2-6 overall, while MEC fell to 1-3.

The Dolphins used a big second half in their win on Tuesday over CCNY to serve as the difference there, but tonight it was a tremendous start that got CSI rolling, as they never looked back after scoring the game's first 21 points.

A couple of early baskets by Kayla Schmitter, four points from Jada Rogers and then a two and a three from Megan McEwan helped CSI to a 15-0 start in the game's first quarter, and later, CSI extended to a 21-0 lead on two more field goals from Schmitter and McEwan and a pair of free throws from Denise Priolo.  Vanessa Zambrano registered MEC's first points of the night via the free throw line with 3:17 to play in the opening stanza, but by then it was clear that this would be CSI's night.

Three-straight three's, two by Priolo and another by Brianna Robisky helped stake CSI to a 34-6 advantage after one full period.  CSI would score the first six points of the second period to extend the lead and from there, the team's played relatively even until the half.  A lay-up by Jada Rogers and then two free-throws by Schmitter gave CSI their biggest lead of the half at 57-18, before the teams parried back-and-forth with CSI taking a 59-21 lead into halftime.

With CSI controlling the tempo to start the second half, the Dolphins used another big run, this time 15-0 to end the third, to take an 87-29 lead after three quarters.  Three-straight Tori Moylan baskets highlighted the run, with two more coming from Deidre Foster and four points from Robisky.

MEC was held to just six fourth-quarter points, as CSI continued to cruise and win in heavy-handed fashion, 105-35.  For CSI the point total was the most since they scored 105 against the College of New Rochelle on March 4, 2015, and it tied the 8th-highest total in CSI history.  The win improved CSI to 48-4 against the Cougars all-time.

CSI finished shooting 56.5% from the floor, led by Schmitter's 20 points, followed by McEwan's and Rogers' 15.  Priolo and Moylan added 12 apiece, while Foster finished with 10.  CSI's Diana Todaro finished with a team-high nine rebounds.  MEC was led by Tianna Jones' 10 points, as MEC shot just 20% from the field and just 1-20 from three-point range.

The Dolphins will now be idle until Wednesday, December 11, when they host Molloy College at 6:00 PM at The Tank in Staten Island.
