DOLPHINS PERFORMANCE IN USMMA INVITE HIGHLIGHTED ATTENBOROUGH'S RECORD-BREAKING PERFORMANCE

Kings Point, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving teams stood out to the many swimmers/teams at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) Memorial Invite on Saturday at the O'Hara Hall Pool. The event went un-scored, but the Dolphins participated in 21 of the 32 swim meet events as a team and individually. CSI Dolphin swimmers saw some season bests that included eight top five finishes, five of which were top three finishes, and one first place finish, across their respective events during the day.
 
INSIDE THE MEET
The USMMA Memorial Invite hosted five schools and though the team events went un-scored, CSI participated in the men's 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay's finishing third and fourth respectively, while the women raced in the 400 Free Relay placing fourth, unofficially. For the men, Anthony Attenborough, placed first with a time of, 4:44.18, among the 12 competing swimmers in the 500 Free men's race; breaking CSI's school record, previously held by Timothy Sweeney back in 2014-15. Attenborough also finished second in the 100 Breast race with a time of 59.71. Max Kleyer placed in second & third in the 200 &100 Back races with times of 2:02.79 & 54.33. On the women's side, Jessica Johnson raced in the 100 Free & 50 Free placing second overall in both with times of, 56.32 & 25.41 respectively while nearly beating the school record in the 50 Free. Johnson also raced in the 200 Free placing in ninth with a time of 2:09.41. Kathleen Bridgman set a season best, placing sixth in the 200 Free with a time of 2:09.07. 
 
DOLPHINS OF THE MEET
The Dolphins of the meet will go to Anthony Attenborough, Jessica Johnson and Max Kleyer who were the only Dolphins with a top three finish on the day. However, although these Dolphins (David Poggioli, Charles Cusumano and Kathleen Bridgman) didn't place in the top three they placed in the top ten and all saw season best times in their respective races on the day.
