Lakewood, NJ - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team suffered their fourth straight defeat at the hands of Georgian Court this afternoon dropping a lopsided match by the score of 8-0. The loss brought CSI's record to 1-6 while the Georgian Court victory was their first of the season and improved them to 1-4.
KEY MOMENTS
The Lions opened the scoring early with a fifth-minute goal and never looked back as Jessica Ford's first goal of the season gave them a lead that they would never relinquish. Three other Lions would find the back of the net once as Hailey Pignatelli, Aliya Canfield, and Allison Looper all added a goal. Krystal Hund and Ashley Merizdale would also score twice each to lead their team to the eight-goal victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Dolphins' struggle for shot opportunities continued as they only tallied a pair of shots including just one on goal. Nearly 90% of the shots attempted by the Lions were on target forcing Dolphins goalkeepers to make ten saves in the match. All of this added up to the lopsided outcome which saw the Dolphins surrender the most goals they've allowed in a game since a 7-1 loss against Montclair State in 2016.
DOLPHIN(S) OF THE GAME
Angye Galan was the only Dolphin that managed to play the full 90 minutes in today's match. Despite the eight-goal defeat, the Dolphins' captain remained on the pitch from start to finish in what was another difficult loss amid the team's recent losing skid.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Dolphins will face East Coast Conference and CUNY rival Queens College on Saturday at Dolphins Soccer Park in what will officially be a Knights home match. The women play at 2pm.
