MEN'S CROSS-COUNTRY TAKES 8TH IN GOLDEN EAGLES INVITATIONAL

Bethpage, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Cross-Country Team was back on the course on Friday when they participated in the Golden Eagles Invitational.  The Dolphins were taking part in this event for the third time in the last four years and five CSI runners contributed to an 8th place effort in the Men's 8K.  The field included 14 teams which posted average team times ranging from 26:39.51 to just shy of 49 minutes.

Among the Dolphins who competed in the 8K were a pair of runners who posted individual times in the top half of the field.  Muhammed Qadri, who posted a time of 30:34.13, and Alan Bass, who posted a time of 31:32.52, both earned spots in the top 50.  In the field of 100 runners, Matthew Amato just missed finishing in the top 50% of participants as his time of 32:00.20 was good for 51st.  Rounding out the CSI squad that posted an average team time of 34:43.27 were Pedro Astudillo and Jamel Reynolds.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy took first place in the event followed by East Coast Conference member St. Thomas Aquinas College and the host Golden Eagles.  For the Dolphins, this is the third time they have placed eighth in the Golden Eagles Invitational.  The placed eighth in the field of eighteen in 2019 and eighth in the field of twenty-three last season.
