10/15/2022 8:00:00 PM

Kings Park, NY - The College of Staten Island Cross-Country Team was back on the course earlier today as they competed in the SJNY Invitational.  The women did not qualify for placement as a team, but they did compete individually with a squad of four runners in the 5K.  The men did compete as a unit and finished in 13th place out of the 20 participating teams in the 8K.

The group of four CSI women competing in yesterday's 5K included Alexandrea Jackson, Kaysha Barrett, Hailey Caruso, and Fabiola Jean.  Jackson's time of 23:46.15 was good for 57th overall placing her well into the top half of the field.  Barrett also finished in the top 50% of runners with a time of 28:39.17.  Caruso finished with a time of 30:40.96 followed by Jean with a time of 34:34.81.

The team of five CSI men that competed in the 8K was led by Muhammed Qadri's time of 32:19.69 followed by Alan Bass' time of 33:04.25.  Qadri's time was good for a spot in the top third of the field and Bass just missed finishing in the top 33% of runners as well.  The rest of the Dolphins squad included Matthew Amato, who finished in the top 50% of runners, Pedro Astudillo, and Jamel Reynolds.  Their effort was good for 13th place in a meet that they have now competed in four times since 2018.

On the men's side, fellow East Coast Conference member St. Thomas Aquinas College took first place.  They also took second in the women's 5K finishing behind Felician
University.  CUNYAC members Hunter, Baruch, and CCNY all finished in the top six in the men's 8K and John Jay barely edged out CSI to finish 12th.  Just ahead of John Jay in 11th was ECC member Queens College.  The Knights also competed in the women's 5K and finished 5th in that event.

The Dolphins will next be in action on Friday when they compete in the Adelphi Short-Course Showdown.
