CROSS-COUNTRY COMPLETES FINAL OUTING BEFORE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS AT ADELPHI SHORT-COURSE SHOWDOWN

10/22/2022 9:52:00 AM

Bethpage, NY - The College of Staten Island Cross-Country Team completed their final outing ahead of conference championships earlier today as they participated in the Adelphi Short-Course Showdown.  The event featured a pair of 5K's, a departure from the conventional meet format, as both the men and women completed the 3.11 mile course.  For the Dolphins, it was a 14th place finish for the men and a 16th place finish for the women to wrap up the regular season.

The CSI men were once again led by Muhammed Qadri and Alan Bass, both of whom placed in the top 100 runners.  Matthew Amato was not far behind followed by Pedro Astudillo and Jamel Reynolds.  For this men's squad, this final meet of the season marks the fifth time they have competed as a unit this year.  The 14th place finish put them ahead of several of CSI's former CUNY rivals and just two spots behind fellow East Coast Conference program Queens College.

The CSI women were paced by Alexandrea Jackson for the second consecutive week followed by Kaysha Barrett and Fabiola Jean.  Newcomers to the team Kennedie Ruth, Jessica Carreon, Jacqueline Marchese and Paige Bell rounded out the squad of seven Dolphins.  This is the largest team that CSI has competed with on the women's side this season, and their 16th place finish marked the third time that have placed as a team this year.
