MEETDAY: SWIMMING & DIVING HOSTS WESTERN CONNECTICUT STATE

10/28/2022 11:30:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Team will host their second meet of the 2022-2023 season this evening when they welcome the Wolves of Western Connecticut State into the Tank tonight at 5 PM.  Both the Dolphins men and women are 0-1 following last week's opener against Adelphi.  The men of Western Connecticut enter tonight coming off of a first place finish in the Spring Carnival meet hosted by Bard last weekend.  The Western Connecticut women placed fourth in the same meet.  Tonight's meet will be the first time the two sides have faced one another.

Last week's meet came down to the final relay for the CSI men as they battled the Panthers of Adelphi University down to the last event on the program.  The Dolphins entered the 200-yard freestyle relay with a narrow lead on the scoreboard, but the Panthers picked up both first and second place in the final event of the night to secure the victory by a final score of 117-110.  The women's meet was very close following the pair of diving events, but the Dolphins only saw their deficit increase further through the last several events and fell 125-96.

On the men's side, Anthony Attenborough won both individual events he competed in last Friday night and earned the Dolphins 18 points with that pair of wins.  He was also part of a relay squad that earned a second place finish in the meet.  Along with Attenborough, Michael Graham was the second Dolphins to earn 18 points last week against Adelphi.  Graham took the top spot in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving on the men's side while Jordan Swanson did the same on the women's side.  For the women, sophomore Jessica Johnson and debuting freshman Brooke Manning won both individual events them competed in and earned their team 18 points.  Tonight, both the men's and women's teams will be in search of their first victory of the season against a Wolves program that will be competing head-to-head against one team for the first time this season.
