WOMEN'S SOCCER STRUGGLES FOR OFFENSE IN LOSS TO REDHAWKS, 2-0

Rochester, NY – The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team was kept off of the scoreboard as they dropped today's conference matchup with Roberts Wesleyan University by a final score of 2-0.  The Dolphins, who suffered a shutout for the sixth time this season, fall to 1-7-1 overall and 1-3 against the East Coast Conference. The Redhawks are now 10-1 on the season and remain perfect against the conference at 5-0.

Much of the first half was dominated by the Redhawks as Dolphins goalkeeper Sara Villacres was repeatedly tested through the first thirty minutes.  The Dolphins did not register their first shot until the 31:42 mark in the opening half, and that shot also resulted in the first Dolphins corner kick.  That shot attempt by Jacquelyn D'Amico was one of only two Dolphins shot attempts in the half, the other coming off the foot of Danie Duka in the forty-fourth minute.  Despite the distinct advantage in shots for Roberts Wesleyan, the teams headed into halftime scoreless.

The scoreless tie did not stand for long following the intermission as the Redhawks quickly struck for the game's first goal.  The Redhawks once again came out strong and tallied the first five shots of the half before finally scoring for the first time.  Ella White would score the game's first goal at the start of the fifty-eighth minute to give her team a lead, and from there Roberts Wesleyan would never look back.  The Redhawks would score a second time on a Morgan Razzano goal in the eighty-fifth minute and the Dolphins were ultimately held without a shot for the entirety of the second half on their way to a 2-0 defeat.

The Dolphins were outshot 20-2 in the match and were only awarded one corner kick following the D'Amico shot in the first half.  White's goal for the Redhawks is her team-leading eleventh of the season Razzano's goal was her second.  In goal, Villacres once again kept the Dolphins in the game until the closing minutes with a ten-save performance.

The Dolphins will be back in action on Thursday at Dolphins Soccer Park when they host Bloomfield College for a 2 PM non-conference match.
