DOLPHINS CAN'T SLOW DOWN MAVERICKS ATTACK IN 6-0 DEFEAT

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team suffered a lopsided defeat at the hands of Mercy College this afternoon as they could not slow down the Mavericks' attack in a 6-0 defeat.  The Dolphins are now 1-8-1 on the season and 1-4 against the ECC.  The Mavericks are now 11-2 overall and stay perfect against the ECC at 6-0.  The Mavericks got on the board early and never looked back as both Kayla Camacho and Ancksu Dixon scored twice in the Mercy College victory.  The Dolphins were limited to just four shots, two on goal, all coming in the second half.

Ahead of today's game, the Dolphins held a brief pregame ceremony as part of Mental Health Awareness Day at Dolphins Soccer Park.  Partnering with Morgan's Message, Dolphins Jenna Como and Nadia Evola, helped organize several Dolphins-themed giveaways combined with a focus on the mental health of collegiate athletes.  The pregame ceremony highlighted some of Como's experiences struggling with mental health and concluded with a message from to Como to all student-athletes who might be experiencing similar struggles.

In her first game at home this season, Evola led the Dolphins in shots with two, one of which was on goal.  In net, Sara Villacres and Biranna Dore combined for five saves in the game, but the Mavericks were relentless in pressuring the Dolphins goalkeeping duo throughout the match.  Camacho and Dixon both finished the day with ten goals after scoring two each and both Jennifer Silva and Dominique Bono added one goal of their own.

The Dolphins will be back on their home pitch on Wednesday for a matchup with Georgian Court University.  Kick off will take place at 2 PM at Dolphins Soccer Park.
