GAMEDAY: MEN'S BASKETBALL TAKES ON UDC IN CONFERENCE PLAY

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team will be back on their home floor tonight for a conference matchup with the University of the District of Columbia.  The Dolphins come in 1-6 overall and 0-2 against the East Coast Conference.  The Firebirds are 3-5 on the year and are 1-1 through their first two game's against the ECC.  These two teams have met twice in the history of the two programs with the Firebirds winning both games played last season.

The Dolphins last played on Saturday against St. Thomas Aquinas College and were once again shorthanded entering the game against the Spartans.  CSI led by double digits in the first half, but the Dolphins could not hold on to the lead in a 14-point defeat.  The Firebirds were also last in action on Saturday when they faced Mercy College.  It was a 12-point victory for the Firebirds in the game as they picked up their first conference win of the season.

Luis Armas leads active Dolphins in scoring with just shy of 15 points per game followed by Messiah Mallory with 13.6 points per game.  Mallory also leads the team in rebounds, leads the team in blocks, and is second on the team in both assists and steals.  Chris Velasquez comes in scoring in double-figures as well with an even 10 points per game.  As a team, the Dolphins are shooting 41% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc.  The Firebirds have three players averaging at least 10 points per game on the season led by Michael Aiken's 14.6 points per game.  Aiken is shooting an efficient 47% from the field and 33% from downtown on the year as well.  Not far behind him in scoring are Micah Campbell and Juanye Colon, both of whom are averaging at least 12 points per game.
