Staten Island, NY – The College of Staten Island Men's and Women's Basketball teams return to action today as they head up to Rochester, NY. The Dolphins will go head-to-head with the Redhawks Men's and Women's Basketball teams of Roberts Wesleyan College. The women's teams will play first at 4:00 PM. The men will follow for a 6:00 PM tip-off.
For both the men's and women's squads, this will be their second meeting of the season with the Redhawks. The Dolphins men's team topped them last week, 91-86. Currently, the Dolphin's men's team comes in at 7-15 overall (6-8 ECC) while the Roberts Wesleyan College men's team enters with a 10-9 overall record (8-6 ECC). As for CSI's women's team, they also defeated the Redhawks last week, 66-49. They enter this contest with a 6-16 overall record (4-10 ECC) while the Roberts Wesleyan College women's team comes in at 12-9 overall (9-6 ECC).
LAST TIME OUT
Both the Men's and Women's teams were in action earlier this week. The CSI men's team fell to Nyack College in a heartbreaking loss, 76-75. The women's team also came up short as they lost to Queens College, 73-64. For the Redhawks, both of their squads played and won yesterday. Both were against fellow ECC member, Queens College.
DOLPHINS TO WATCH
For the men,
Bryce Waterman and
Messiah Mallory have solidified themselves as a dynamic duo for the Dolphins. Waterman is coming off a 16-point outing against Nyack College, while Mallory looks to stretch is double-double streak to five.
Austin Mick has been solid all season long, and it has led him to be the third pillar for the Dolphins on offense (10.8 PPG).
On the women's side,
Jenalyse Alarcon has been a problem for opponents all year. She is averaging 10.8 PPG and 9.3 RPG as her inside presence has been paramount for the Dolphins success.
Ashley Lambert's offensive take-off cannot be ignored. She is also averaging 10.8 PPG behind her 35% shooting from deep.
Gia Esposito comes into today on a 5-game double-digit scoring streak.
