Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team fell to Roberts Wesleyan College tonight. Despite a strong second half, they lost to the Redhawks, 80-67. This is now a three-game losing streak for the Dolphins as they split the season series with Roberts, 1-1. CSI falls to 7-16 on the season (6-9 ECC), while on the other side, the Redhawks improve to 11-9 overall (9-6 ECC).
KEY MOMENTS
Austin Mick got things started for the Dolphins. The Redhawks would respond with a 13-2 run on their way to an early eight-point advantage, 13-5, at the first stoppage. The Dolphins really struggled to score as Roberts kept it rolling. CSI found themselves in a 13-point deficit, 18-5, with 11:31 left in the first half. The Dolphins would cut in to the Redhawks lead following threes from both Mick and
David Shkolniy, 24-14. CSI struggled to gain any momentum as Roberts went on another 13-2 run to open up a 21-point lead, 37-16. The Dolphins would go into halftime trailing, 42-22. CSI started the second half with a quick 7-1 run. They cut the lead to just 12 with over 10 minutes to go, 52-40. The Redhawks would respond with seven unanswered points, 59-40. The Dolphins were never able to get anything going as Roberts continued the onslaught. Despite outscoring the Redhawks 45-38 in the second half, CSI fell to Roberts 80-67.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Dolphins struggled mightily from the floor. They scored 67 points, grabbed down 37 rebounds, and dished out only 12 assists. In the contest they shot 31% from the field, 29% from three and 76% from the line. Roberts outrebounded CSI by 8 (37-45). The Redhawks were also successful on ten more field goals than the Dolphins (30-20). Roberts shot 45% from the field, 27% from three, and 72% from the line.
