Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team fell to Saint Thomas Aquinas College today, 94-74. CSI hung strong with the Spartans throughout most of the game, but STAC was able to pull away at the end. The Dolphins will end their season on a six-game losing streak. CSI finishes with a 7-19 record for the year (6-12 ECC), while on the other side, the Spartans improved to 24-4 overall (17-1 ECC).
KEY MOMENTS
Austin Mick got things started for CSI by knocking down back-to-back triples. Both teams came out clicking on all cylinders as they traded blows early on. Five minutes in, the Spartans led 13-9. Behind consecutive threes by
Bryce Waterman, the Dolphins cut the lead to just one, 16-15. Following some solid defensive play from STAC, CSI trailed by four with 12 minutes to go in the half, 20-16. Waterman's hot hand continued as he tried to keep the Dolphins in it. The Spartans would own a seven-point advantage with 7:09 remaining in the first half. They opened up a 14-point lead with 4:30 to go as CSI suddenly couldn't find the mark from deep, 38-24. The Dolphins went on a 10-4 run to cut the lead to eight as the half came to a close. The Spartans would take an 11-point lead into halftime, 45-34. STAC started the second half on a 7-2 run extending their lead to 16, 52-36. The Dolphins would quickly respond with a 7-0 run of their own cutting the lead to nine, 52-43 with under 16 minutes to go. The Spartans responded with authority. They rebuilt their double-digit lead to 14 with 11:47 left in the half, 65-51. This forced CSI to call a timeout. The Dolphins would rip-off four straight points cutting the deficit to 10, 65-55. Both teams would begin to trade baskets. CSI struggled to find offense behind stifling Spartan defense. STAC began to really separate themselves late, leading by 16 with 3:26 to go, 85-69. Despite a late Dolphins push, CSI would fall short. They lost to STAC 94-74.

Despite the loss, the Dolphins put together a well-rounded floor game today. They scored 74 points, grabbed down 38 rebounds, and dished out 14 assists. In the contest they shot 39% from the field, 41% from three and 62% from the line. CSI lost the paint points battle 34-22. They also turned the ball over six more times than the Spartans (10-6). Both squads knocked down 14 threes a piece in this high scoring affair. For the game, the Spartans shot 45% from the field, 45% from three, and 86% from the line.

Bryce Waterman. In the final game of his Dolphins career, Mick scored 23 points, dished out 4 assists, and grabbed down 2 rebounds. He knocked down four three-pointers and played a team-high 40 minutes. Waterman made Dolphin history today. He broke the single season three-pointers made record (101) passing Gerard Nicholson (98). This record stood since the 1987-88 season. Waterman finished the game with a team-high 26 points behind a hot hand from deep. He drained eight triples and shot 67% (8-12). Today we say goodbye to
