Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island began their 2022 campaign last night. They played their first of a five-game set at the Cal Ripken Experience. They lost to Anderson University 0-11. This puts the Dolphins at 0-1 on the season as the opposing Trojans improve to 12-1 overall.
KEY MOMENTS
The Dolphins collected four hits in the contest. The first of which came from
Nick Campisi in the bottom of the second where he singled to center field and advanced to second on a passed ball. That was followed by
Jake Myers who, at the bottom of the third, singled to right center. The Dolphins trotted out nine pitchers last night. CSI showed promise as they had five innings with zero runs given up, and two without even a hit.
John Esposito got things started for the Dolphins as he only gave up two hits in the first inning. They closed the game with back-to-back scoreless innings by
Liam Harding and
Ryan Kehoe.
INSIDE THE BOX SCOREÂ
The Dolphins went scoreless tonight. They tallied hits in the second, third, sixth, and ninth innings. The Trojans got rolling in the third after putting two runs on the board. They never looked back. Most of Anderson's damage came in the seventh inning where they put together three hits and four runs. CSI trotted out 23 total players in the season-opener.
