Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island faced off against the Trojans for the second consecutive night at the Cal Ripken Experience. After dropping their season opener to them, 11-0, the Dolphins looked to right the ship on the second night of their back-to-back. In a game that went for a impressive duration of four hours and forty-nine minutes, the Dolphins put up a great fight before falling short to Anderson University, 21-15. This loss drops CSI to now 0-2 on the season, as the opposing Trojans improve to 13-1 overall.
KEY MOMENTS
Anderson came out strong in the first inning, converting on four hits and three runs. CSI answered as a
Thomas Marten double to left center would eventually lead to a
Domenick Castiglione score. At the bottom of the fourth, both squads were knotted at four runs apiece. After the Trojans went scoreless in the top of the fifth, the Dolphins responded with authority. They tallied a total of eight runs and three hits in the bottom of the inning. This was all sparked from a Castiglione single to center field that would lead to a score after a
Nick Campisi walk. This inning would comprise of a sequence with scores from Marten, Castiglione, Campisi,
Bryan Birkhead,
Shendi Ulaj,
Jake Myers, and
Nick Cippoletti. Entering the top of the sixth, CSI would lead 12-5. The Trojans responded with seven runs, knotting the game at 12 before the Dolphins would rip off three more runs as they regained the lead, 15-12, at the bottom of the sixth. AU answered this with a solo run at the top of the seventh, six more runs in the eighth, and a pair of runs in the ninth. CSI was held scoreless in the final three innings and would go on to lose 21-15.

The Dolphins tallied 15 runs, 11 hits, and four errors in the contest. They did most of their damage in the bottom of the fifth as they not only held AU scoreless but comprised of eight total runs in the inning. The opposing Trojans tallied 21 runs, 17 hits, and seven errors in the game. They made their biggest dent in the sixth where they put together seven runs and four hits. This game occupied a 13-run turnaround as CSI saw a seven-run lead turn in to a six-run loss.

Domenick Castiglione. The junior pitcher/outfielder tallied two hits, three runs scored, one run batted in, and three putouts. He was responsible for sparking the Dolphins onslaught in the eight-run fifth inning.
