KEY MOMENTS
Game 1
The Lightning got things started early as they tacked on a run in the bottom of the first. After two consecutive quiet innings from both squads, the Dolphins would make some noise in the top of the fourth. This was due to a
Shendi Ulaj homer to centerfield that led to two RBIs. CSI took a 2-1 advantage. The Lightning responded immediately with a homer of their own to left center that also led to two RBIs as they took a one-run lead, 3-2. In the bottom of the fifth, Goldey-Beacom kept on rolling as they tallied four hits and two runs on their way to building a 5-2 lead. To keep up with the back-and-forth, CSI put together a two-run inning in the bottom of the sixth. This was sparked by a
Domenick Castiglione single up the middle. Marten followed that up with a single to left field and
Nick Cippoletti tripled to right center as Marten and Castiglione scored. CSI closed the gap to one, but never was able to get over the hump. The Lightning won 5-4.
Game 2
The Lightning came out clicking on all cylinders as they put six runs on the board in the first four innings of play. CSI was runless all the way up until the top of the fifth inning. Behind a Myers double down the leftfield line and an advance off of a wild pitch, Myers would score after a Castiglione single to shortstop. The score would be 6-1. The Dolphins followed that up with one run in the top of the sixth behind a Cippoletti triple down the leftfield line as Sutera would score, 6-2. The Lightning would put on a flurry in the bottom of the sixth as they extended their lead to eight, 10-2, behind two hits and four runs. The Dolphins would not scratch for the rest of the game, and the Lightning went on to win 10-2.
