DOLPHINS FALL IN BACK-TO-BACK GAMES VS MOLLOY COLLEGE

Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island faced off against the Lions today. After losing to them in the first of the three-game series yesterday, they dropped both of the games in today's doubleheader against Molloy College. They fell in game one, 15-9, and lost game two, 5-1. Today's matchup puts CSI at 9-22 (2-12 ECC) on the season, as the opposing Lions improve to 27-11 (13-2 ECC) overall.

KEY MOMENTS
Game 1
Molloy jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Dolphins responded in the bottom of the second with a sole run of their own. Thomas Marten would single to left center and would score off of a Nick Cippoletti single up the middle. Both squads would grow quiet in the third and fourth innings until Molloy extended their lead to eight with a three-run fifth inning and a two-run sixth, 9-1. The Dolphins would finally respond in the bottom of the sixth. They tallied five runs. Anthony Sutera would double to right field and John Castiglione singled up the middle. This led to two RBIs as both Sutera and Domenick Castiglione scored. Marten would single up the middle and Morel would homer to left field to bring the Dolphins within three, 9-6. The Lions would finish off strong to take a 15-6 lead as CSI was only able to score three runs in the final inning. The Dolphins fell to the Lions 15-9.

Game 2
Molloy once again jumped out to an early advantage as they tacked on two runs in the top of the first inning. CSI's sole run of the game came in the bottom of the third inning. Campisi singled to right field and Myers flied one out to center field. Castiglione would reach on a fielder's choice, and he would advance to second on a passed ball as Campisi scored. The Lions would combine for three runs throughout the fifth and sixth inning as they went on to win 5-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
Game 1
CSI tallied nine runs, 15 hits, and two errors in the game. Angel Santiago was 1-for-1 with one run. Domenick Castiglione went 2-for-3 with two runs. Anthony Sutera doubled and was 1-for-3 with one run. John Castiglione went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs. Thomas Marten registered a 5-for-5 game with two runs. Allen Morel homered and was 1-for-4. CSI trotted out four pitchers for this one. They combined for five strikeouts in the game. The Lions finished the contest with 15 runs, 11 hits, and four errors.
 
 
Game 2
CSI tallied one run, two hits, and four errors in the game. John Castiglione went 1-for-3. Nick Campisi finished with a 1-for-2 game with one run. John Esposito led the pitching for the Dolphins as he registered four strikeouts. The Lions finished with five runs, nine hits, and four errors.

The Dolphin of the Game goes to Thomas Marten. He was 5-for-5 with two runs. He added four putouts in CSI's loss.

The Dolphin of the Game goes to Nick Campisi. He was 1-for-2 with one run. He added three putouts and two assists in CSI's loss.
