Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island faced off against the Purple Knights today. The Dolphins dropped a tough one to the University of Bridgeport, 10-9. Today's game puts CSI at 9-23 (2-13 ECC) on the season, as the opposing Purple Knights improve to 18-24 (7-9 ECC) overall.
KEY MOMENTS
Bridgeport got things started in the bottom of the first inning to take 2-0 advantage. CSI tacked on their first scores of the game in the top of the second inning. Gardner doubled and Cippoletti popped one up shortstop. A Morel single led to two RBIs as Gardner and Castiglione scored. The game was knotted at two runs apiece. Both squads would go quiet throughout the third and fourth innings. CSI would scratch in the top of the fifth inning behind a Marten single which led to another Castiglione score. The Dolphins took a 3-2 advantage. They would keep it going in the top of the sixth after a Gardner double sparked a Myers single which led to scores from both Cippoletti and Gardner. The Purple Knights would cut the CSI lead to one with two runs in the bottom of the seventh, 5-4. After a scoreless eighth from both teams, CSI would capture a three-run final inning behind a Castiglione single and a Gardner homer to center field. They took a five-run lead, but Bridgeport would emphatically respond. The Purple Knights would put together a six-run finale to shock CSI and steal a 10-9 victory.

The Dolphins tallied nine runs, 12 hits, and no errors in the contest.
Jake Myers registered a 3-for-5 performance with one run and two RBIs.
Domenick Castiglione was 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Pat Gardner had two doubles and went 3-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs.
Shendi Ulaj went 1-for-4.
Thomas Marten went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
