Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island once again faced off against the Mavericks. Today they split the games against Mercy College after dropping both in their doubleheader against them yesterday. CSI finally snapped their seven-game losing streak. They fell in game one, 8-5, but came out on top in game two, 5-4. Today's matchup puts CSI at 7-14 (0-4 ECC) on the season, as the opposing Mavericks improve to 11-15 (4-2 ECC) overall.
KEY MOMENTS
Game 1
The Dolphins got things started early as they scratched in the bottom of the first inning. This was all done behind an Ulaj double to right field which led to an RBI as
Domenick Castiglione would score. The Mavericks would answer with a four-run second inning to take a three-run advantage, 4-1. After three run-less innings from both teams, CSI would tack on four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. This was sparked by a Kehoe single to left field. Myers would reach on an error by left field leading to an RBI as Kehoe scored, 4-2. An Ulaj single to right field would advance Myers to third and Ulaj stole second. Collica singled through the right side leading to two RBIs as Ulaj and Myers scored. The game was tied at four runs apiece. CSI would break the tie as a Cippoletti fly-out to center field led to an RBI for a Collica score, 5-5. Mercy College tacked on sole runs in the top of the seventh and eighth inning to take a one-run lead. CSI would never respond as the Mavericks added two more runs in the top of the ninth and went on to win 8-5.
Game 2
Mercy College came out strong in game two as they put up four runs in the top of the first inning. The Dolphins responded in the bottom of the second inning with three runs to the cut the Mavericks lead to one. This flurry was started with singles from both Castiglione and Cippoletti. A Morel single through the left side led to an RBI and Castiglione scored. Myers would fly one out to right field leading to a score from Cippoletti. CSI closed the inning as
Domenick Castiglione singled to center field leading to an RBI with a score from Morel, 4-3. The Dolphins would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth which was sparked by a Collica single through the left side. Castiglione flied out to centerfield and Marten walked. This led to a single to second base from Cippoletti for two RBIs as Marten and Collica scored. This helped the Dolphins secure their lead and take home the victory, 5-4.

Steven Collica went 1-for-3 with a run and two RBIs.
Michael Kehoe put together a 1-for-3 outing with one run. Pitchers
Ryan Kehoe and
Liam Harding combined for seven strikeouts. Kehoe picked up the loss, but Harding only allowed only one hit in his two innings of play. The Mavericks finished the game with eight runs, ten hits, and five errors.
Game 2
CSI tallied five runs, nine hits, and one error in the game. Collica went 2-for-4 with one run.
John Castiglione had a 1-for-3 performance with a run.
Thomas Marten went 1-for-2 with a run. Cippoletti added a 2-for-2 outing with one run and two RBIs.
Allen Morel was good for a 1-for-3 game with a run and an RBI. Pitchers
Pat Gardner and
Steven Collica combined for five strikeouts. Gardner picked up the win. The Mavericks finished with four runs, five hits, and three errors.

Nick Cippoletti. He tallied a 2-for-2 game with one run and two RBIs. He registered three catches, one putout, and two assists in CSI's win.
