Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island faced off against the Purple Knights today. After losing to them in the first of the three-game series yesterday, they split the games in today's doubleheader against Bridgeport. They fell in game one, 18-6, and won game two, 5-4. Today's matchup puts CSI at 10-24 (3-14 ECC) on the season, as the opposing Purple Knights improve to 19-25 (8-10 ECC) overall.
KEY MOMENTS
Game 1
Bridgeport jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the top of the third inning. The Dolphins responded in the bottom of the fourth behind a Castiglione double to left center as Marten scored. A Campisi double to right center would close the inning leading to Castiglione scored. The Purple Knights tacked on a sole run in the top of the fifth before CSI answered with another two runs. This was sparked by an Ulaj double to left center which set up a Marten single. Both Ulaj and Castiglione scored off of this sequence to cut the Bridgeport led to one, 5-4. The Purple Knights combined four three runs throughout the sixth and seventh innings before CSI tacked on sole run in the bottom of the eighth. An Ulaj double led to a Myers score. Bridgeport would ride a stellar 10-run final inning to victory as they won comfortably, 18-6.
Game 2
The Purple Knights once again jumped out to an early advantage as they tacked on two runs in the top of the first inning. CSI tallied two runs in the bottom of the second inning as Gardner would advance to second on a passed ball and Cippoletti singled to center field. Marten and Gardner scored. The game was knotted at two games apiece. Bridgeport tacked on sole runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a two-run lead, 4-2. CSI would close the game strong as they combined for three-runs throughout the fifth and sixth innings. The Dolphins won 5-4.

Jake Myers doubled and was 1-for-5 with one run.
Domenick Castiglione also doubled as he went 3-for-3 with one run.
Shendi Ulaj doubled and was 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. CSI trotted out four pitchers for this one. They combined for eight strikeouts in the game. The Purple Knights finished the contest with 18 runs, 19 hits, and one error.

CSI tallied five runs, eight hits, and one error in the game.
Domenick Castiglione doubled and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Pat Gardner finished with a 2-for-2 game with one run and an RBI.
John Esposito led the pitching for the Dolphins as he registered seven total strikeouts. He picked up the win (4-3). The Purple Knights finished with four runs, eight hits, and two errors.
