Purchase, NY - The College of Staten Island Cross-Country Team competed in the Purchase College Invitational yesterday, their second meet of the season. The women took 9th in the 5K race, and though the men competed in the 8K, they did not place. The events featured the season-debut of several CSI runners and once again saw Dolphins post individual times in the top half of their respective field.
The women's team finished 9th in the ten-team field in the 5K, but once again Julia Calvo posted an individual time in the top half of the field of over sixty runners. Her time of 27:27.07 was good for 28th overall and she was followed by Alexandrea Jackson, Kaysha Barrett and Hailey Caruso, all of whom were making their season debut. Rounding out the women's team that competed was Fabiola Jean who, like Calvo, was competing for the second time this season.
WOMEN'S 5K RESULTS
For the men,
Matthew Amato set the pace in the 8K with a time of 36:06.0, but the Dolphins did not post a finish in the event. Taking the top spot in the 8K was fellow East Coast Conference member St. Thomas Aquinas. The field, comprised of ten teams, also included former CUNYAC rivals Baruch and Hunter College.

The Dolphins will have next week off before returning to action on Saturday September 24
th in the Fred Pavllich Invitational.
