Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

WOMEN'S SOCCER STILL IN SEARCH OF FIRST GOAL AFTER LOSS TO MOLLOY

Rockville Centre, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team once again failed to find the back of the net yesterday in a lopsided 6-0 loss to Molloy University.  The loss keeps the Dolphins winless on the season at 0-4-1 while the victory is the fifth in six games for the 5-1 Lions.  For both teams, the match was the first in conference play dropping CSI to 0-1 and getting Molloy off to a 1-0 start against the East Coast Conference.

The Dolphins were able to keep the Lions off of the scoreboard through the first half of the match despite a significant advantage in shots for the home club.  Heading into the break, the shot tally favored Molloy 5-1 and CSI only registered a single shot on goal.  However, Molloy broke the game open in the second half after CSI put the ball into their own net for the game's first score.  This seemed to deflate the Dolphins as Molloy would go on to attempt nine shots in the second half, four of which found the back of the net, and two of which came on penalty kicks.  The CSI attack remained quiet the rest of the way as the Lions cruised to a 5-0 win.

The Dolphins were held without a goal for the fifth time this season in yesterday's loss to Molloy, but the first half of the match extended a stretch without allowing a goal for CSI goalkeeping to three halves.  That came to an end with the own goal shortly after the intermission, and the Moloy attack would go on to add four more goals from there.  Sienna Nicolich would add her third goal of the season and her team-leading fourth goal of the season, and both Mikaela Barriga and Morgan Camarda would score on penalty kicks.

The Dolphins will have a lengthy break from action as they will not play again for two weeks.  Women's Soccer returns to Dolphins Soccer park on Saturday September 24th when CSI takes on St. Thomas Aquinas College in conference play.
