Farmingdale, NY - The College of Staten Island Cross-Country Team made their 2022 season debut this afternoon when they competed in the Adelphi Panthers Cross-Country Invite. Though the Dolphins did not register scores as a team in the men's 8K and women's 5K, six Dolphins got the opportunity to compete for the first time this season. For the men,
Alan Bass,
Muhammed Qadri, and
Matthew Amato ran in the 8K. For the women,
Julia Calvo,
Jazmine Severo, and
Fabiola Jean ran in the 5K.
Bass set the pace for the CSI men in the 8K with a time of 33:14.2, good for 83
rd in the field of 137 participants. His time followed by Qadri with a time of 35:30.6 and Amato with a time of 36:02.8. For the women it was an impressive showing for
Julia Calvo who finished in the top half of the field of 97. She registered a time of 25:07.2 in the 5K, good for 46
th. Calvo was followed by Severo with a time of 30:47.4 and Jean with a time of 33:44.5.
CSI Results
In the 8K, it was the East Stroudsburg men who took the top spot followed by USMMA in second and the host Panthers in third. ECC conference member Molloy College took fourth and fellow ECC member and CUNY institution Queens College finished tenth. In the 5K, the host Panthers claimed first place followed by Molloy. East Stroudsburg and USMMA once again both finished in the top four and Queens finished seventh in the women's event.
The Dolphins will return to action next Saturday when they compete in the Purchase College Invitational. The event will take place in Purchase, NY and will get underway at 10:00 AM.
