Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

DOLPHINS FAIL TO SCORE IN HOME-OPENER LOSS TO SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team hosted their home-opener this afternoon and suffered a shutout defeat at the hands of Southern New Hampshire University by a score of 4-0.  The Dolphins, now 0-3, have been shut out in three consecutive games.  The Penmen improve to 2-0 on the season and have won their first two contests by a combined score of 5-0.

The Penmen opened the scoring early and did not look back as they found the back of the net just two minutes into the match.  A long through ball up the right sideline from Georgia Greene set up Nida Orloff for the game's first goal on a powerful shot that beat Dolphins goalkeeper Sara Villacres inside of the far post.  SNHU would score again less than thirteen minutes later when Orloff and Imogen Noon combined to assist Alyssa Anderson on a tap-in from right in front of the CSI goal.  The two-goal lead would stand until halftime, but was in dire jeopardy for a moment when Penmen goalkeeper Hannah Rose misplayed a ball in front and left the net vacant.  Ariel Salaman has a great look at the empty net, but her shot sailed just over the crossbar.

Following the intermission, time of possession skewed more heavily in the favor of the Penmen, but the Dolphins were able to remain within a pair of goals until the seventy-sixth minute.  Following a Dolphins foul, a Penmen free kick would set up Allison Beaumont in front for a shot, rebound, and score.  Just minutes later, Greene, who had already tallied an assist, scored the fourth Penmen goal through a great deal of traffic in front.  The Dolphins would be without a quality scoring chance the remainder of the way and CSI would go on to lose in shutout fashion for the third straight game.

The Dolphins didn't register many stats in the game as they were held to just a single shot on goal, but six Dolphins did play the full 90 minutes.  For the Penmen, all four goal scorers found the back of the net for the first time this season, and both Orloff and Greene added 3 points to their stat line.  In net for the Dolphins Villacres and Brianna Dore each played 45 minutes in goal and surrendered a pair of scores.

The Dolphins are next in action on Wednesday at noon when they travel to Rutherford, NJ to take on the Felician University Golden Falcons.
