GAMEDAY: WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SEEKS SECOND STRAIGHT CONFERENCE WIN IN MATCHUP WITH ROBERTS WESLEYAN

1/21/2023 8:00:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball Team continues conference play this afternoon as they face the Roberts Wesleyan University Redhawks on the road at 2 PM.  The Dolphins enter today's game 6-11 on the year and are 2-5 against the East Coast Conference.  The Redhawks enter action at 3-12 overall and are 2-6 in conference play.  The two teams have split the only two meetings between the two programs, both coming in February of last year.

The Dolphins have had a week off since their previous game against Molloy University last Saturday at The Tank.  The Dolphins took the win over the Lions 58-41 behind a huge third quarter and a double-double from Kyra Rose.  The Redhawks last played on Monday against the University of the District of Columbia picked up an 82-66 victory.  The win for Roberts Wesleyan snapped a six-game losing skid that extended back to December 14th of last year.

In addition to Rose's double-double last Saturday against Molloy, the Dolphins got an additional 12 rebounds from their leading rebounder Jenalyse Alarcon.  Despite only 6 points against the Lions, Alarcon remains CSI's leading scorer with just over 11 points per game.  Ashley Lambert is averaging close to double-figures as well just shy of 10 points per game and Elizabeth Lofaro is averaging nearly 8 points per game.  Most notable on Lofaro's stat line is her outside shooting as she has connected on 60% of he three-point attempts.  Grace Galgano is the leading scorer for the Redhawks at 12.3 points per game and is joined in averaging double-figures by Georgia Haverlock.  That duo also lead Roberts Wesleyan in rebounding and Galgano is shooting nearly 50% from the field as well.  For the Redhawks, rebounding has been as issue this year as they have been outperformed on the glass by an average of over 9 rebounds per game.  The Dolphins will enter today's game looking to avenge a heartbreaking one-point loss in the second meeting between these two teams last season.
