WOMEN'S SOCCER EARNS FIRST CONFERENCE WIN WITH FOUR-GOAL EFFORT AGAINST STAC

Sparkill, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team earned their first conference win earlier today behind a four-goal outburst as they outlasted the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College by a final score of 4-3.  The Dolphins improve to 3-4-4 overall, and a much-needed conference win improves them to 1-3-1 against the ECC.  The Spartans are now 2-8-1 overall and 1-3-1 in conference play.  The Dolphins take a 2-1 lead in the all-time series against the Spartans with the victory.

Neither team scored for over 20 minutes to open the game, but both sides quickly generated consistent scoring for the remainder of the match.  Isabella Radovini opened the scoring for the Dolphins wih her team-leading fifth goal of the season to make it 1-0.  The Spartans responded quickly with a Lilly Lawson goal to level the score, but Radovini scored a second time just over one minute later to put the Dolphins back in front.  Ahead 2-1, the Dolphins scored twice more before halftime as Kolleen Rodriguez and Jacquelyn D'Amico each found the back of the net to send the game to halftime 4-1.

Following the break, the scored remained 4-1 for over 20 minutes before the Spartans began their comeback big.  In the 67th minute Ella Connolly brought STAC back to within two before Arianna Tribble cut the lead to one nine minutes later.  The pair of goals accounted for two of the 13 second-half shots by the Spartans, but the Dolphins were still able to hold on for the one-goal victory, 4-3.

The four CSI goals ties a season-high set back on September 3rd against Bloomfield.  Radovini's goals were number five and six on the season, Rodriguez scored her first, and D'Amico registered her third.  CSI goalkeeper Sara Villacres finished the match with 8 saves to earn the victory in a game which saw the Dolphins outshot 23-9.

CSI will next be in action when they return home on Wednesday for a conference matchup with Lincoln University.
