WOMEN'S SOCCER SCORES SEASON-HIGH FIVE GOALS IN WIN OVER LINCOLN

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team took a big first step toward securing a playoff spot today as they picked up a decisive 5-1 victory over Lincoln University.  The Dolphins improve to 4-4-4, and more importantly, the team earns their second conference win to go to 2-3-1 against the ECC.  The Lions fall to 1-10-2 with loss and remain winless in seven conference games.  With the win, the Dolphins also remain perfect in the all-time series against Lincoln and are now 3-0 against the Lions.

The Dolphins struck early as it took just three minutes for Juliana Carrara to give CSI the lead with her first goal of the season.  Despite a barrage of shots, the Dolphins would not score again for over 30 minutes.  However, it was Carrara who broke through a second time in the 36th minute to give the Dolphins a 2-0 lead.  Once again, Jacquelyn D'Amico picked up the assist on the Carrara goal, the second of her three assists in the game.  The 2-0 lead CSI would stand into the final seconds of the half until a Keilani Broadnax breakaway goal for the Lions brought Lincoln back to within one.  This sent the game to halftime with the Dolphins leading by a single goal, 2-1.

After the late goal in the first half, the Dolphins reasserted their control over the game with a 49th minute goal by Kolleen Rodriguez.  Rodriguez would also score again on a long shot that she tucked just beneath the crossbar less than eight minutes later, and Adriana Melgar would increase the lead to four with the final CSI goal of the match.  The Lions would not record another shot following their first-half goal and the Dolphins went on to win by a score of 5-1.

In addition to the two Carrara goal, two Rodriguez goals, and three D'Amico assists, the Dolphins also recorded a pair of season-highs in shots and goals.  CSI scored five goals for the first time this season and the 30 shots the Dolphins attempted was also a season-high.

CSI will play their final road game of the season on Saturday when they travel to Buffalo for a matchup with the D'Youville University Saints.  A win will ensure that the Dolphins control their playoff destiny entering their final conference match at home next Saturday.
