Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

EARLY GOAL ENOUGH TO GET REDHAWKS PAST DOLPHINS, 1-0

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team remains in search of their first conference win as they dropped their match with Roberts Wesleyan University by a final score of 1-0.  The Redhawks scored the game's lone goal 16 minutes into the first half and that was enough to improve them to 8-1-2 on the season and 4-0-1 in conference play.  The Dolphins drop to 2-3-4 on the year and are 0-3-1 against the ECC.

Ella White gave the Redhawks the lead for good at the 15:59 mark in the first half with her second goal of the season, and that was all the offense Roberts Wesleyan would need.  The Dolphins put two shots on goal in the first half which accounted for all of their shot attempts in the match.  The Redhawks attempted 7 shots, 4 on target, in the first half and would go on to outshoot CSI 17-2 overall.

Facing one-goal deficit, the Dolphins were under constant pressure in the second half as the Redhawks attempted another 10 shots following the intermission.  CSI goalkeeper Sara Villacres made 7 saves and was able to keep the Dolphins within striking distance through the end of the match.  However, without a single shot in the second half, her team was not able to threaten the Roberts Wesleyan lead and the visitors went on to secure the 1-0 victory.

The shot total for the Dolphins was their lowest of the season and they have now been held without a goal in each of their last two games.  The loss for the Dolphins is also their first of the season at Dolphins Soccer Park.

Women's Soccer will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Pace University for a 7:00 PM primetime matchup with the Setters.
