2/21/2023 8:00:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball Team will try to snap their three-game losing streak tonight in their final non-conference game of the season against Chestnut Hill College.  The Dolphins enter today's game 9-17 on the season and the Griffins come in with a record of 17-9 on the year.  These two teams have faced one another just once before in a game won by Chestnut Hill last season, 68-34.

The Dolphins last played on Saturday against the University of the District of Columbia and could not slow down the Firebirds offense in a lopsided defeat.  The Griffins were last in action on Saturday as well when they took on the Lightning of Goldey Beacom College.  Chestnut Hill won for the second time in three games picking up an 85-78 victory.

Ashley Lambert continued her strong 2023 last time out again UDC scoring another 16 points in the Dolphins loss.  She is now averaging double-digit scoring on the season with an even 10 points per game and has at least 10 points in six of the last seven games.  Leading the Dolphins in scoring against the Firebirds was Gia Esposito who finished with 21.  Esposito is now CSI's third-leading scorer behind Lambert and Jenalyse Alarcon.  Alarcon scored 12 against the Griffins last season trailing only Esposito who scored 14.  The Griffins only have one player averaging double-figures on the season, Emily Chmiel.  Chmiel also leads the team in rebounding and is the team's most efficient shooter at 51%.  As a unit, the Griffins are shooting just above 38% on the season from the field and 34% from beyond the arc.
