STARTING PITCHING LEADS DOLPHINS TO TWO WINS OVER LINCOLN IN CONFERENCE PLAY

Lincoln, PA – The College of Staten Island Baseball Team traveled to Lincoln, Pennsylvania today as they looked to ignite a postseason push in a four-game series against the Lincoln University Lions.  Behind strong efforts on the mound from starters Ryan Kehoe and John Esposito, the Dolphins picked up the win in both games, 7-0 and 2-1.  With the victories, the Dolphins improve to 13-20 overall and 5-9 in conference play.  The Lions fall to 10-27-1 and 3-11 against conference opponents.

GAME 1
The Dolphins got all of the offense starter Ryan Kehoe would need when the first run of the game came home on a Lions error in the second.  Ahead 1-0, another run came home in the third on an AJ Vigliotti RBI single.  Thomas Marten and Vincent Weigele each had an RBI hit in the fifth to make it 4-0, and three runs came home in the sixth, two coming on another hit by Weigele, to make it 7-0.  On the mound, Kehoe went the distance in a complete game shutout.  He finished with ten strikeouts and allowed just four hit to earn his fifth win of the season.

GAME 2
John Esposito got the start for the Dolphins in game two and was handed an early 2-0 lead on a two-RBI hit by Thomas Marten.  This lead would stand until the fifth when the Lions scored for the first time on the day to make it 2-1.  After throwing 97 pitches through the first five innings, Esposito was replaced by Alex Martinez in relief for the start of the sixth.  Martinez proceeded to allow a leadoff hit, but he quickly retired the next three batters he faced.  Martinez then set the Lions down in order in the seventh to pick up the save and secure Esposito's fifth win of the season.

AJ Vigliotti had four hits and an RBI in game one while Vincent Weigele had two hits and three RBI.  In game two Thomas Marten was the only Dolphin with multiple hits and he drove in both CSI runs.  Thanks to the efforts of Esposito and Kehoe, the Dolphins were able to preserve their pitching depth for the next two games of the series tomorrow.  With the wins, the Dolphins surpassed Lincoln in the ECC standings with 10 conference games remaining on each team's schedule.  The series with the Lions continues tomorrow at 11 AM as the two teams attempt to beat inclement weather moving into the area.
