Game Recap: Baseball |

BASEBALL TAKES THREE OF FOUR FROM LINCOLN WITH SATURDAY DOUBLEHEADER SPLIT

Lincoln, PA – The College of Staten Island Baseball Team wrapped up their four-game series with Lincoln University earlier today and made it three out of four against the Lions following a split of today's doubleheader.  After an offensive outburst in a 16-3 game one victory, the Dolphins dropped the series finale in six innings by a final score of 3-2.  With the split of today's games, the Dolphins wrap up the series 14-21 overall and 6-10 in conference play.  The Lions end the day 11-28-1 on the season and 4-12 against the conference.

GAME 1
The Dolphins got on the board in the first inning to go in front by one and broke the game wide open in the second with an eight spot.  Leading 9-0, the Dolphins tacked on three more in the fifth before the Lions scored for the the fist time in the bottom half of the inning.  The Lions also scored the game's next two runs in the seventh to make it 12-3, but the Dolphins added four more runs in the ninth to win 16-3.  Shendi Ulaj led the way for the Dolphins at the plate going 4-4 with three RBI and both Jake Myers and Thomas Marten had three hits.

GAME 2
The Dolphins fell behind for the first time on the day in the first inning of game two and remained behind 1-0 until the top of the fourth inning.  CSI then tied the score on an AJ Vigliotti solo home run and went on to take the lead two innings later on another solo home run by Ulaj.  With inclement weather looming, the Dolphins took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning.  The inning began with a walk which was followed by a strikeout for the inning's first out.  Miguel Agramonte then drove in the tying run with an RBI double to even the score at two.  Advancing to third on the throw home, Agramonte was scored moments later on a sacrifice fly to give the Lions back the lead.  With Lightning in the area, the game was suspended after six innings with the Lions leading 3-2.

The two teams combined for just seven hits in the game and Vigliotti and Ulaj accounted for all three Dolphin hits.  Steven Collica pitched the entirety of game two for the Dolphins and Christian Rice picked up the win in game one.  With three victories during the last two days, the Dolphins move into a great position to secure a spot in the East Coast Conference playoffs.  They move two games ahead of Lincoln with possession of any tiebreaker over the Lions.  They also leapfrog the Mercy College Mavericks, a team that owns any tiebreaker over the Dolphins.

The Dolphins will next be in action on Friday when they open a weekend conference series against St. Thomas Aquinas College.
