BASEBALL COMES UP ONE RUN SHORT AGAINST MOLLOY IN SERIES FINALE

Rockville Centre, NY – The College of Staten Island Baseball Team came up one run short against Molloy University earlier today as the Lions defeated the Dolphins 4-3.  The win improves the Lions to 19-10 overall and 7-1 against the East Coast Conference.  The loss drops CSI to 8-15 on the season and 2-6 in conference play.

Jake Myers opened the scoring for the Dolphins with an RBI groundout in the second inning to give his team a 1-0 lead.  The Lions quickly got even in the next half-inning, but the tied score didn't last long.  A.J. Vigliotti delivered an RBI single to put CSI in front 2-1 and Michael Kehoe plated a second run with another RBI hit to put the Dolphins ahead by two.  After getting back to within a run on a sacrifice fly, Molloy would take the lead for the first time in the sixth.  An RBI single by Robby Keane evened the score at 3-3 and a wild pitch brought home the go-ahead run to give Molloy the one-run advantage.  The Dolphins would bunt the tying run to second base in the eighth but did not score, and this would be the final opportunity they would have with a runner in scoring position.  Molloy would ultimately hold on for the 4-3 victory to win for the third time in four games against the Dolphins.

Kehoe and Myers each had two hits for the Dolphins in an eight-hit effort for the CSI offense.  Steven Collica gave the team a quality start as well going 5 innings and allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits.  The CSI bullpen allowed two earned runs in three innings of relief, but the CSI bats went cold in the late innings of the one-run loss.

The Dolphins will break from conference play for a doubleheader on Wednesday at home against East Stroudsburg University.  First pitch of game one will be at 1:00 PM at the CSI Baseball Complex.
