STATEN ISLAND FERRY HAWKS HOST SECOND ANNUAL CSI NIGHT

8/26/2023 1:00:00 PM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island continued their partnership with the Staten Island Ferry Hawks last night as the team hosted their second annual CSI Night.  Students, faculty, and staff from CSI were welcomed by the team ahead of the game and mascot Danny the Dolphin threw out the ceremonial first pitch.  CSI student-athletes also took part in several on-field contests throughout the night as the Ferry Hawks continued their push for a playoff spot against the Long Island Ducks.

In addition to the recognition received by attendees from CSI throughout the evening, CSI Baseball Head Coach Michael Mauro received the Ferry Hawks Hero of the Game award.  Mauro, an NYPD veteran, is also an assistant coach for the Ferry Hawks, a role he has filled each of the last two seasons.  Prior to the game, Mauro also was joined on the field by CSI student-athletes and staff.  Alongside CSI's student-athletes, many students who recently arrived on campus were in attendance for the game as well.

"It was an amazing night," said Mauro.  "I want to thank Ferry Hawks for honoring me. It was humbling.  To my CSI family, you all showed so much love and support, and I can't thank you enough. To my fellow CSI coaches, you truly are family.  Lastly, I want to issue a special thanks to my Baseball team. We have something special here and I can't wait to get to work. I love these guys!"

Friday marked the first day of classes at the College of Staten Island and Thursday will mark the start of the 2023-2024 regular season for Athletics.  The season will begin with a soccer doubleheader as Women's Soccer takes on Saint Michael's College and Men's Soccer hosts Bloomfield College.
