CROSS-COUNTRY MAKES SEASON DEBUT IN FRED PAVLICH INVITATIONAL

Annadale-on-Hudson, NY - The College of Staten Island Cross-Country Team made their 2023 season debut earlier today at the Fred Pavlich Invitational.  The event consisted of a Women's 6K followed by a Men's 8K Run.  A group of four CSI women participated in the event individually while a team of six CSI men competed as a unit.

For the CSI women, Angelina Guerriero, Alexandrea Jackson, Elizabeth Nicotra, and Kafilat Yekinni participated in the 6K.  Guerriero set the pace with a time of 28:40.5 just ahead of Jackson who finished with a time of 29:22.  Competing with just four runners, the Dolphins did not qualify to place as a team.  Vassar College finished first overall followed by Middlebury, Amherst, RPI, and St. Thomas Aquinas of the ECC.

Setting the pace for the CSI men in the 8K were Wayne Stephenson and Jah Whyte who both finished with times under 30 minutes.  They were followed by Matthew Amato and Alan Bass who finished just about one minute apart.  Ibrahima Diallo and Jorden Dixon rounded out a six-runner CSI squad that went on to place 13th in the field of 15 teams.  Middlebury, Amherst, Vassar, RPI and New Paltz State were the top five teams in the meet.

The Dolphins will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Patchogue, NY for the Golden Eagles Invitational.
