WOMEN'S SOCCER DEALT FIRST LOSS IN CONFERENCE OPENER AGAINST DAEMEN

Amherst, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team lost for the first time this season earlier today as they dropped their conference opener to Daemen University by a score of 6-1.  With the loss, the Dolphins fall to 0-1 against the ECC and are now 2-1-3 on the season.  The Wildcats improve to 2-3-1 and are now 2-0 in conference play.  The victory gives Daemen a 3-0 lead in the all-time series against the Dolphins.

The Wildcats opened the scoring early and never looked back as they scored four times in the game's first 30 minutes.  Magda Carpenter and Kylie Miranto each found the back of the net twice and the Daemen goals accounted for four of their nine first-half shot attempts.  The Dolphins finished the first 45 minutes with five shot attempts.

CSI struck first following the halftime break as Julia Necka-Huptysiowska registered her first goal of the season in the 51st minute.  This was one of 15 second-half shots by the Dolphins and they went on to outshoot the Wildcats 20-17.  However, Deamen wasn't done scoring yet as they added two insurance goals in the final 40 minutes to pick up their second conference win, 6-1.

For the Dolphins, they attempted 20 shots in a game for the second time this season, but today's loss marked the first time the team has allowed more than three goals.  Today's game was also just the second time that Dolphins goalkeeping allowed more than a single goal in a game.

The Dolphins continue conference play on Wednesday when they take on Mercy University on the road at 2:30 PM.
