MOLLOY SCORES TWO UNANSWERED GOALS TO HOLD OFF DOLPHINS, 3-1

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team once again demonstrated their resilience on the road against Molloy University earlier tonight, but the Lions held off a Dolphins comeback with two unanswered goals in a 3-1 victory.  After falling behind 1-0, Jenna Como scored for the second time in five games to level the score at 1-1.  However, the Lions seized control from there and scored a pair of unanswered goals to win 3-1.  The Dolphins are now 0-10-3 on the season and finish conference play 0-6-1.  The Lions are 7-4-2 on the season and remain perfect in conference play at 5-0.

The Dolphins once again surrendered an early goal as Mikaela Barriga found the back of the net in the 9th minute.  Trailing 1-0, Como capitalized on heavy traffic in front of the Lions goal following a CSI free kick.  Emerging from a large crowd in front of the Lions goal, Como scored for the second time this season to even the score at 1-1.  However, this shot was the only shot for the Dolphins in the first half, and on the final attempt before the break, Molloy went ahead 2-1 on a goal by Madison Falkowski.

Now leading 2-1, began the second half much like the ended the first half.  The Lions attempted eight consecutive shots before finally scoring on their ninth attempt of the half.  Isabella Muro scored to increase the Molloy lead to two, and only three more shots would be attempted in the match from that point forward.  Facing constant pressure throughout the game, Oksana Zahirna made 10 saves for the Dolphins, but the Lions limited CSI to just two shots in a 3-1 victory.

Como and Caitlyn Thompson were responsible for the two CSI shot attempts and both Kelly Buckley and Emily Albano played the full 90 minutes on defense.  The shot tally for the match favored Molloy 23-2 with shots on goal favoring the Lions 13-2.

The Dolphins will play their final two matches of the season at home beginning with Morgan's Message Mental Health Awareness Day on Saturday against Holy Family University.  Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
