Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

DOLPHINS LIMITED TO PENALTY KICK GOAL IN LOSS TO HOLY FAMILY, 3-1

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer Team played their penultimate match of the 2024 season earlier today and were held to just one goal in a loss to Holy Family University, 3-1.  The Dolphins fall to 0-11-3 on the season with the defeat and the Tigers improve to 5-7-1 with the victory.  The Tigers win gives them a 1-0 edge in the all-time series and is their third straight win overall.

CSI opened the game with an early scoring chance as Isabella Radovini had an opportunity to give the Dolphins the lead from in close.  Receiving the ball near the center of the box, the senior sent her first shot attempt of the match just wide.  Six minutes later, Alyssa Hooten put the Tigers on the board for the first time with a long strike.  Twelve minutes later, the Tigers doubled their advantage on an unorthodox goal from deep in the corner.  Following a corner kick attempt, Allison Loper was left alone unmarked near where the corner was attempted.  The ball found its way back onto her foot moments later, and she sent a shot high up into the air and over CSI goalkeeper Brianna Dore

With the Dolphins now behind by two, Radovini would threaten the lead twice with two more shots that just missed their mark.  Finally, a foul against Radovini led to a penalty kick goal that got CSI on the board for the first time with just over ten minutes to play before the break.  The game reached halftime with the Dolphins trailing by a pair, and the Tigers kept the pressure on with eight consecutive shots to begin the second half.  Holy Family would finally break through in the 77th minute Loper put the game away with her second goal of the match.  This left the Dolphins just over thirteen minutes to work with during which they were limited to just one shot as CSI went on to fall, 3-1.

The Dolphins faced consistent pressure from the Tigers attack throughout the 90 minutes as Holy Family attempted 32 shots.  14 of those were on target as opposed to five shots on goal for the Dolphins.  Dore finished the match with 11 saves and was joined by three more Dolphins in playing the full 90 minutes.  Emily Albano, Kelly Buckley, and Arielle Uy all played 90 minutes starting at back and Radovini played the full 90 at her forward position.  In addition to Radovini's four shots, Caitlyn Thompson added a pair of shots, both on target.

The Dolphins wrap up the regular season next week when they host Pace University on Wednesday at 3:00 PM.
